Read internal ratings every day: the complaint that has not reached Google yet

A missing star inside the dashboard is a chance. If it waits for the map, it becomes a public record while you sleep.

Google is slow to spread the good, and fast to publish the upset. A rating written on the menu at 2 p.m., read at 3, can be fixed before dinner. Read a week later and it is often already outside — or the guest will not come back.

The dashboard is not a star gallery. It is a service inbox.

1. A fixed time, not “when you remember”

“I’ll look later” arrives next Friday. Service is fixed on the same shift, or it goes cold.

Better: ten minutes before close, or first thing in the morning. Same time. The team knows the words get read.

2. Three stars matter more than five for operations

Fives warm you up. Threes tell you the fries went cold, or the wait ran long. That is today’s kitchen work.

Better: filter the low ratings first. Call back if you have a number. No argument about the star.

3. Do not put the waiter on trial on the floor

Humiliating the team over a comment will not improve the plate. It will teach people to hide mistakes.

Better: a calm talk after service. “Did this comment repeat?” matters more than “whose fault.”

4. Pattern, not incident

One remark about salt can be a bad day. Five in a week on the same dish means change it, or drop it.

Better: jot the smallest repeats on paper. Quantity from the report plus the sentence. Both.

5. Do not buy the star to silence the complaint

A discount after a complaint can help once. As policy, it teaches that shouting has a price.

Better: fix it. If you apologise, apologise without a menu of silence prices. Fours and fives go to Google on their own when the button is ready.

A seven-day test

Read ratings every night. Count how many things got fixed the same week. If that is zero and you have comments — reading is browsing, not running the shop.

menutables collects name, stars, and a comment from the menu into the dashboard. Start free and let the complaint reach you before it reaches the map.
