When to open the second location from the numbers, not from a feeling
A busy door for a week is not a feasibility study. Rent lasts. The report tells you if you have extra demand — or one lucky night.
A second shop is a growth dream and a fixed bill. People open because the neighbour did, or because Friday was packed. Three months later the first shop weakens because the manager was pulled, and the second is quiet because the site was chosen by taste.
Numbers do not remove risk. They stop you opening on a rumour.
1. A repeating peak, not a night
If the rush only comes with football, a permanent lease pays for quiet. If Thursday, Friday, and Saturday hold for months, demand repeated.
Better: look at three months, not three weeks. Peak hours: are people turned away? Regular overflow is truer than a boast on Instagram.
2. The channel works without one hero
If operations depend on you confirming every ticket, the second shop falls the day you go to open it.
Better: an order board, a team that knows statuses, a catalog that updates without you travelling. Move what lives in your head into the tool before you get the keys.
3. The list copies without a spreadsheet
A new shop whose menu is rebuilt from memory brings wrong prices within a week.
Better: one account, central items, availability per location. Opening day uses tools you already have, not an IT project.
4. The new room is not a copy of the rush
A shop in an office district will peak at lunch and die at night. Copying the first rota breaks both.
Better: assume a different peak. Measure the first two weeks on their own. Do not compare them to rent already covered by the old shop.
5. Do not starve the first to decorate the opening
Hollowing the original shift to make the launch look busy loses the base that will fund the expansion.
Better: keep a minimum team in the first shop. Open the second with the same system, a small crew, and grow it when its own demand shows.
A test before the lease
Ask the report: how many months is the peak stable? Are tickets refused from overflow or from too few people? If refusals are rare and quiet is common — delay the contract. If the opposite, tools and staff — not a post.
menutables runs more than one location from one account. Free is one shop, Starter up to three. Start free and build the second when the number holds, not when the mood is high.
